A van-tastic time!*
Last Friday we had fun moving to a new office.
Unit B011, The FaircharmThe time has come to step up a gear and this year promises to build on the wonderful things the Lord has been doing with us recently. Over the past few years Ron and Emma Yee have been very kind to us providing an office space for the church, but it seems we’ve out grown it. With a number of people volunteering and the discipleship year guys pitching up each week, we simply ran out of room! We’ve not moved far, but as we’re looking to find a ‘Shop Front’ in the vacinity of Morden Mount, the new space will certainly help us for the next 6 months or so as we continue to increase our engagement locally, seeking the Kingdom as we serve this wonderful part of the city. There will be lots of opportunities to volunteer and help out in the new place, so watch out for more info over the coming weeks…*appologies for the awful pun.

A place to lay your head

There’s room for you to help out at the night shelter.

The winter months have been unseasonably warm, but it’s still cold. Particularly if you’re sleeping rough. There are many hidden people in our local area who regularly sleep in abandoned buildings, behind shops and in places where you wish you didn’t have to be. But there is hope.

The wonderful people at the 999Club, lead by the infamous Iris are doing some fantastic things to provide a warm bed, a chance to take a shower and get some hot food in their bellies. The night shelter opended its doors back in December and will run through to March. To keep things going they could really do with a hand and during the Christmas season people are usually compelled by the time of year to get involved. Come January, volunteers are harder to come by. This is where the church can step up and offer a hand.

Are you keen? If so please get in touch with Betsy or simply sign up here. You won’t regret it.

Epiphany
We’re in the season of light. The chuch year, or liturgical year is a cyclical thing. It goes around and around and helps us figure out some kind of pace or rhythm to the year. We’re in the season of Epiphany right now and if you’d like to learn more of what that really means in practical ways, then come on Sunday to learn more…

But honestly, it won’t happen unless we all get talking and spread the word… so let’s get inviting! When: Sunday 18th DecemberTime: 5:30-6:30pmWhere: Morden MountYour job: Invite friends, family, neighbours, workmates and anyone you can!

We need NEW mens pants, socks, vests and T-shirtsThe plan is to ask as many people as we know - friends, family, mums at the school gate, colleagues at the water cooler, anyone you like to simply donate what they can to help this wonderful night shelter be a great success. Print off a flyer to help spead the word and get collecting!

Lost in You// A song written by the Greenwich Vineyard band, recorded live one Sunday when we focussed on serving homeless people in our neighbourhood.

Breakfast clubs//  There are children right here in our neighbourhood who go to school hungry. We don’t think that’s right. So earlier this term we started a breakfast club in a local primary school whilst preventing another from closing.
This was only possible because of the generosity and prayer of people from Greenwich Vineyard getting involved. If you’re interested in finding out more, or you’d like to volunteer for a morning then get in touch to discover how you can make a real difference.

We took part in the recent London Citizen’s Assembly where there were some great achievements improving the lives of many people at the fringe of our society as we negotiated with the people who make things happen here in the city.

Anonymous asked: We are going to be moving into the Greenwich area in mid-November and are beginning our search for a church. We are wondering if you would be able to share your doctrine with us? Thanks so much.

Answer:

Hi there, thanks for your question. We’d love to meet you when you arrive in the neighbourhood! Why not pop by one Sunday once your feet touch the ground after the move.

In the meantime if you’re interested in reading more on our position of faith, a good place to start would be the Vineyard statement of faith.

Hope to meet you soon…
